I don't know why I haven't taken more trips, because they are amazing!
I visited friends in Pierre and Rapid City over President's Day weekend. I can't believe I don't go out there more often. It's such a beautiful area, and I have such beautiful friends that live there. Matt & Alaina were gracious enough to let us stay at their apartment all weekend. We met their kitties, Mario & Luigi. Don't tell Luigi (or Matt & Alaina), but Mario is my favorite. I would totally get a black cat. I was also able to spend an evening with Morgan, Amanda and Emily, who are all friends from work. I have missed them so!
And, even though government officials closed I-90 on Sunday, Em and I were able to get back home on Monday. Unsure what the roads would be like after opening, we stopped at Wal-Mart to get snackies and a candle. We didn't realize until Mitchell that we didn't have anything to light it (good job girls!). I am happy to report that we did not need one anyway. My fabulous driving skills kept us on the road even when all I could see was ice. I hope I didn't scar Em for life.
Another exciting stop was Pierre, early on in the trip. We randomly planned to stay at my dear friend Heather's family home on Friday night. It was so great to see her family (I love the M's!) and hang out in South Dakota's great capitol. Believe it or not, I'd like to go back.
So, goal (55) is complete. I do hope to 'complete' that goal a few more times. Why would I not?
Other trips planned in the next 1001 days:
(56) Lincoln, NE - I don't think I've told Kate this before, but I'm coming to visit her. I hope she's excited!
(1) Europe - Even though Heather has returned from the PeaceCorps, we still plan to go to Europe. She went to Egypt instead of Europe on the way back so that we could do that together. What a sweetheart :)
(2) Boise, ID - I've been talking about going to Boise since I met my friend Arielle, so I might as well just do it. Plus, I've got this great photo frame that needs a REAL Idaho picture in it. :)
UPDATE: Perhaps I should add Las Cruces, New Mexico to the list too *wink*
And New Mexico? Please?
